Aircond Servicing Costs in Malaysia 2026 — The Real Numbers
What air conditioner servicing actually costs in Malaysia by unit type and job — general service, chemical wash, overhaul, and the charges worth questioning.

The 2026 Service Price List
| Job | Wall Unit | Cassette Unit |
|---|---|---|
| General service | RM80 – RM110 | RM200 – RM260 |
| Chemical wash | RM130 – RM180 | RM280 – RM350 |
| Chemical overhaul | RM250 – RM320 | RM350 – RM480 |
| Clearing a blocked drain | RM60 – RM100 | RM120 – RM160 |
These are per-unit prices. Most companies, ourselves included, discount when you service three or more units in the same visit — the travel cost is shared.
What Moves the Price
- Unit power — a 2.5HP unit takes longer and uses more cleaning agent
- Mounting height — a unit above a stairwell or outside an upper-floor window needs extra equipment
- How dirty it is — a unit untouched for three years may need an overhaul rather than a wash
- Location — outlying areas usually carry a travel charge
Charges Worth Questioning
A few charges come up often and are worth asking about before you pay.
A gas top-up as routine. An air conditioner is a sealed system. If refrigerant is low there is a leak — and that leak needs finding, not topping up every year.
Replacing filters at every service. Panasonic’s standard dust filters are washable and last years. They only need replacing once torn.
Charges that appear after the work. A good quote is agreed before the technician starts. If extra work is discovered you should be told and asked first.
Is Regular Servicing Worth It?
Run the numbers. An annual chemical wash on a 1.5HP unit costs about RM150. A unit with a clogged coil can draw 20-30% more electricity — on an RM180 monthly cooling bill, that is RM36 to RM54 a month.
The service pays for itself in three to four months, before you count the longer compressor life.
