Comparison of the Panasonic XU, XPU, PU and PN air conditioner series

The PN Series — When It Makes Sense

PN is the only non-inverter here, and it undercuts the rest by a wide margin. It still carries the Panasonic name, R32 gas and POWERFUL mode — what it lacks is the inverter and the sensors.

PN makes sense when the room is used rarely. A guest bedroom switched on ten nights a year will never earn back an RM600 price difference through electricity savings. For a daily bedroom it is the wrong choice.

The PU Series — The Value Sweet Spot

For most homes the PU series is the right answer. You get a full 5-Star inverter with ECO A.I. Control for only a little more than the PN, and that difference usually comes back within two years through the electricity bill.

What you give up is nanoe X. If nobody in the house has asthma or allergies, that is a reasonable trade.

XPU and XU — When They Are Worth It

  • Someone in the house has allergies or asthma — nanoe X makes a noticeable difference to odours and dust
  • A large room or long hall — AEROWINGS on the XU series throws air up to 15 metres
  • You want phone control — WiFi Comfort Cloud is built in, no extra dongle
  • You live near the coast — the premium coil coating stands up better to salt-air corrosion

Between the two: XPU gives you nanoe X and WiFi for less, and goes up to 3.0HP. XU adds nanoe X Mark 3, AEROWINGS and the iAUTO-X humidity sensor.
